Workplace Chaplains

Chaplains in business are often called corporate or workplace chaplains. Nan and Tony have had the honor of serving as business owners (Pfister & Associates, Rising Son Web Design) and also worked as chaplain/employees.

The role of a chaplain in the business sector is often to provide a "third party" confident to able to connect with employees to create a supportive work culture.

Core functions of a business or marketplace chaplain may include:
  • Crisis response: Providing immediate support during critical incidents, like an employee death or workplace accident
  • Conflict resolution:  Assisting with internal mediation and conflicts between staff, management or employees
  • Mental Health support:  Offering a safe, nonjudgmental person that employees are able to regularly interact with, and the ability direct staff to other mental health resources

How do I bring a marketplace chaplain into my business?
When it comes to matter of faith, many business owners feel unequipped to support their employees in life's circumstances. They fear giving spiritual counsel will jeopardize their boundaries as an employer.  It takes a willing employer who knows his call in life is to provide not only financially to his/her employees but also to give them opportunity for spiritual growth and guidance in their lives.

What is the role a marketplace chaplain can play within my business?
Chaplains are trained and able to serve all people, regardless of race, color, religion, religious beliefs (or no beliefs at all) We provide person-focused spiritual care and emotional support for the joys and challenges that life brings:
  • Support for those navigating sickness, addiction, separation, job loss, grief or death
  • Empowerment for challenge and change
  • Connection to religious or spiritual resources
  • Services celebrating life events, such as weddings, funerals and child dedications
We are available to offer spiritual care to employees as an extension of your human resource offerings. Depending on your needs and location, we can serve as an onsite resource, or by phone/teleconference.
